India Welcomes You

Golden Triangle
India Welcomes You

History & Culture: INDIA'S history goes back almost six thousand years and has passed through many different stages and societies and invasions from outside. Each region of the nation has its own separate history. Named after the river Indus, is heir to one of the world's oldest and richest civilizations and the origin of many of the ideas, philosophies, and movements that have shaped the destiny of human kind. One can broadly define different periods or influences in the history of this land, many of which overlap each other. They are classified according to ancient, medieval, British and modern period.

India is a vast land of contrasts that blend, of harmony in variance with its rich cultural heritage of arts and crafts, music and dance, architecture and people all are instances of the cultural rainbow of India. It is the development in these aspects of life that makes the heritage of India one of the most vibrant and most exhaustive.

Religions: India as a 'land of religions' is that it is the birthplace of several major world religions. Home to Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and several other religious traditions. Hinduism, the dominant faith, is practiced by over 80% of the population. For the majority of Indians, religion permeates every aspect of life, from common-place daily chores to education and politics.

Geography: India shares borders to the northwest with Pakistan, to the north with China, Nepal and Bhutan, and to the east with Bangladesh and Myanmar. To the west lies the Arabian Sea, to the east the Bay of Bengal and to the south the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka lies off the southeast coast, and the Maldives off the southwest coast. The far northeastern states and territories are all but separated from the rest of India by Bangladesh as it extends northwards from the Bay of Bengal towards Bhutan. The Himalayan mountain range to the north and the Indus River (west) and Ganges River (east) form a physical barrier between India and the rest of Asia. The country can be divided into five regions: Western, Central, Northern (including Kashmir and Rajasthan), Eastern and Southern

Weather: India has three major seasons : summer, winter and the rainy season or the monsoon. The Summer months ( April -June) are hot in most parts of India. This is the season to visit the summer hill resorts. The Winter Months are ( November -March) pleasant throughout India with bright sunny days. Winter is more severe in the Northern Plains, and in the foothills of Himalayas, while the southern ,eastern, and the western zones of India, remain pleasantly cool

The Monsoon break at the beginning of the June on the South West coast of India, and gradually break at all parts of the country, except South Eastern areas. These areas receive most of the rainfall between mid - October and end -December.

Clothing:
Casual wear is suitable for travel in India. Light cottons are recommended from spring to autumn. In winter however you will need warm clothing and preferably a wind cheater. Early morning and late evenings are very cold in Rajasthan and few parts of Northern India in winters. Society across the sub-continent is still deeply religious and steeped in tradition. Rural India, in particular, is very conservative. It is important to dress modestly to avoid offending local sensibilities and also (especially for woman) to avoid being the target of unwanted attention. However, western dresses are common in big and metro cities.

Passports and Visas:
All travellers to India (excepts nationals of Bhutan and Nepal) must posses a Valid passport to enter India. Similar to this all foreign nationals (except Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh) must require a valid Visa. Interested Travellers to India must contact Indian consulate for necessary visa. Visa are not issued on arrival. Apart from this
Special permits are required for Restricted areas. Normally permits can be issued to Groups and for limited number of day. Indian missions or consulate in our particular country can be contacted for more information.

Entry Ports:
There are five designated International airports in India Delhi in North, Chennai, Cochin & Trivandrum in South, Mumbai & Goa in West and Kolkatta in East. These cities in India can be used as the entry/exit ports by Air.
