If you know who the guide was in Kolkata, he was very knowledgeable and was kind enough to buy us prints of some paintings in the Victoria Museum, now we are home and have a chance to appreciate them. Please pass on our thanks to him for his generosity and wish him well. Just for future reference the drive from Shimla to Amritsar is 9 hours (including 2 short wash room breaks and lunch). Not a problem but you may wish to revise the estimated timing of 6/7 hours. The drivers too were patient and excellent. The Oberoi hotels are so good you expect all hotels to be the same! It is interesting that we left at Delhi at 3:20 (11/12/19) and arrived in Chicago at 14:30. Just 16 hours of flight time and a 4 hour lay over in Amsterdam to accomplish it. As you may remember we enjoy visiting Pence, Kanha and Bandhavgarh to see the tigers. This time we were blessed in seeing 15 tigers!! One citing (a first for us) was a mother with four 2 yr. old cubs. A field employee for the World Wildlife Fund teased us about our exceptional good luck in seeing all of the tigers. The only hitch of the trip was on our arrival. The driver and escort had troubles finding the Hans Hotel. I had to tell them where it was located. Lord willing we may have another opportunity to visit India."
